My MIL gives me paan ka patta after dinner saying it helps digestion. Im 5 months now and suddenly got a doubt if its okay during pregnancy. Anyone been told anything by their gynac about this?
The leaf itself is mild but the additives are the real concern, especially tobacco. Honestly doctor advice is best here, please just confirm with yours before making it a habit.
Plain betel leaf in small amount our elders use for digestion, but the problem is the supari and tobacco people add with it. I avoided the whole paan thing in pregnancy and just asked my doctor, she said skip it to be safe.
I cant tell you whats safe medically, but personally I didnt have paan at all those 9 months. Better to run it by your gynac since everyone adds different things in it.
If its just the leaf occasionally, not a big deal, but most paan has areca nut and stuff which is not good. I just stayed away during both my pregnancies, easier than worrying.
