We got watermelons from the village but they are still a bit green inside, not fully ripe red. Im craving something cold in this heat, im 5 months along. Is the slightly raw green one fine to eat or should I wait?
Watermelon overall is good and hydrating, even the lighter inner rind in small amounts is okay cooked. Just dont eat unripe fruit and wash it properly. Keep portions sensible and you are fine.
If you mean the white rind part, a little is fine and some even cook it like a sabzi yaar. The juicy red part is great for hydration in pregnancy too. Just wash the whole fruit well before cutting, that is the main thing.
My amma used to make a curry from the white watermelon part and we ate it happily. In moderation it is fine. As always I checked with my doctor about quantity since I get acidity easily, you can too if unsure.
