Im in my 2nd trimester and my MIL keeps offering paan with khoir after meals like its normal. I dont want to be rude but also not sure if its okay for baby. Anyone know?
Plain paan leaf is fine, the worry is whats added, katha (kher) in big amounts, lime, and especially supari or tobacco. I'd keep it occasional and skip anything with supari. Honestly just run it past your gynac in your next visit to be safe.
Beta in our homes paan with katha and chuna is offered after meals, plain meetha paan once in a while is mostly okay. But the supari and tobacco wala paan, that you avoid completely in pregnancy. Eat a simple sweet paan if you crave, dont make it daily.
My MIL also gives paan after dinner saying it helps digestion. I take only the plain meetha one sometimes, no supari no tobacco. Thoda thoda is okay but I dont overdo it na.
One thing to keep in mind, paan with gulkand and sweet stuff has a lot of sugar. I had to watch sugar so I avoided it. If your sugar is fine then very occasionally a plain paan is okay, but skip supari for sure.
