It's mango season and I'm craving them, but I'm in my early pregnancy. My elders say mangoes are heaty. Can I eat mango during early pregnancy, or should I limit it?
Oh I ate so many mangoes and my baby is literally made of mango juice at this point! Jokes aside, early pregnancy me limit it to one a day because it can cause body heat. But please enjoy, don't starve yourself.
I was extremely scared during my early weeks and avoided mangoes completely because of the heat myth. Honestly, my doctor told me a little bit is fine, but if you feel anxious, it's better to avoid till the 2nd trimester for your peace of mind.
When I was staying with my parents, my dadi used to soak mangoes in water for hours before giving them to me. They say it reduces the 'garmi' (heat) of the fruit, so maybe try that.
Mangoes are absolutely fine and packed with vitamins, but make sure they are naturally ripened. However, if you ever feel any severe stomach pain or heavy vomiting, please avoid self-treating and contact your doc.
