My saas adds methi seeds in a lot of cooking and i usually love it. But i heard somewhere that some seeds should be avoided in pregnancy. Im in 1st trimester, is methi okay or better to skip?
Methi seeds? Mujhe toh bas yeh pata hai ki delivery ke baad breast milk ke liye khate hain. But pregnancy mein kha sakte hain kya? Main toh abhi bas sab kuch darr darr ke khaati hoon, sochti hoon kahin kuch galat na ho jaaye. Bohot saari cheezein hain jo pata hi nahi hoti.
Oh god, methi seeds! I literally read so many articles about everything. Some say it's fine in moderation, but then I read somewhere it can induce contractions, especially if you have a history of premature labor. So I completely avoided them during pregnancy, just to be safe. Better to be careful!
Beta, methi toh bohot gunkaari hoti hai, khaas kar digestion ke liye. Par pregnancy mein thoda dhyaan se. Hamare zamane mein toh bolte the ki garam hoti hai, toh shuru ke mahino mein kam khate the. Kuch log delivery ke baad doodh ke liye lete hain. Agar khaana hai toh thoda sa hi lena, ya doctor se puchh lena.
Haan, methi seeds ke liye toh meri saas bhi bohot bolti thi ki delivery ke baad khana chahiye doodh ke liye. Par pregnancy mein, especially starting ke months mein, she said to avoid it ya bohot hi kam. Bolte hain ki garam hota hai. Best to ask your MIL ya doc.
Generally, methi seeds are often avoided during pregnancy, especially in the last trimester, because they are believed to have oxytocic properties, meaning they *could* potentially stimulate contractions. It's safer to avoid or consume only under medical advice and in very small quantities. Talk to your gynac.
After my C-section, I was advised methi for milk supply, and it really helped. But during pregnancy, I was told to be a bit careful, especially in the early months. Some say it can cause contractions. So maybe check with your doctor first and have it in very small amounts, if at all.
