I randomly got a craving to just bite into sweet potato raw, dont ask me why pregnancy cravings are weird haha. Im in first trimester. Is it ok to eat it raw or should i always cook it? Just checking.
Beta we always cook shakarkandi, never eat it raw. Boil it or roast it, add a little black salt and lemon, it is tasty and good for you. Raw is heavy on the tummy, better avoid.
Honestly raw sweet potato doesnt even taste that great, roast it instead. I used to roast it with a bit of chaat masala and it totally hit my cravings, plus much easier on the stomach. Cooked all the way for me.
At home we always steam or boil it, my amma never let us eat such things raw in pregnancy. Cooked it is gentle and filling. For anything you are unsure about food wise, a quick word with your doctor is always good.
Cooked sweet potato is fine and actually nutritious, but raw I wouldnt go for, it is tough on digestion. Since I had sugar issues I also watched my portion size. If you have any diet restrictions, check the amount with your doctor.
I would cook it rather than eat it raw. Raw sweet potato is hard to digest and can upset your stomach. Boiled, steamed or roasted is much better and just as healthy, I ate it that way a lot.
