My throat feels dry and MIL gave me talmisri to keep in mouth. I have not eaten it much before, so wanted to ask. Is it okay during pregnancy or should I avoid?
We call it as panakkalkandu type thing, my family gave small piece for throat. Its okay in little quantity. Just remember its sugar so dont have too much.
Its basically a sugar, so honestly keep it minimal. I had to watch all sugars closely in my pregnancy. A tiny bit for taste or throat is fine but dont make it daily, specially if you ever had high sugar.
A small amount is fine, its just rock candy type sugar. People use it for soothing throat. Nothing harmful but treat it like sweet, not like a health food.
Beta talmisri (palm sugar candy) we used a little for cough and throat at home. In pregnancy a small piece is okay but its still sugar, so just a little. For a real cough or cold better ask your doctor.
