I have this habit of chewing 2-3 tulsi leaves every morning, been doing it for years. Now that im pregnant my mom said better avoid, but i wasnt sure if its actually a problem. Is it ok or not yaar?
Hey! Having 1-2 leaves in your morning tea is totally fine but don't eat too many tulsi leaves daily 🌸 It can cause body heat, so better to keep it minimum!
Tulsi is great for cold but during pregnancy it is better to avoid eating it raw or in large amounts. Just stick to warm ginger water or plain warm water if you have a sore throat dear.
There is mixed research on tulsi during pregnancy, so it is best to avoid it in large doses. A cup of normal tea is fine but always run it by your doctor during your routine checkup.
According to my pregnancy tracker app, tulsi has estragole which might cause mild uterine contractions if taken in huge quantities. I would suggest tracking your symptoms and skipping raw tulsi leaves to be safe.
Since I had thyroid issues, I was super careful about everything I ate and had regular follow-ups. Tulsi can affect blood sugar levels too, so do ask your doctor before making it a daily habit.
