My husband wants to take me to a movie this weekend, but I'm in my second trimester and not sure if it's safe or comfortable. Is it okay to go to the cinema during pregnancy, especially for a longer movie?
Of course you can go, pregnancy is not an illness! Just don't go for a 3-hour long horror movie that stresses you out, choose something light and pleasant. Carry a water bottle and take a break to stretch your legs during interval.
Beta, going out is fine but avoid very loud action films as it can make the baby restless inside. Carry home-cooked roasted makhana to munch on instead of outside junk, and drink warm water if you feel any acidity.
Personally, I would say please ask your gynac first because some theatres have extremely loud sound systems which might not be great for the baby. It's always better to be safe and get a green light from your doc before planning any outings.
Actually there is no medical reason to avoid movies, but try to choose a theater with good legroom so you don't get cramps. Also, go during off-peak hours to avoid crowded washrooms and wash your hands frequently.
