Im 5 months and i get this crazy craving for cold soft drink especially after lunch. Havnt had any since i found out but its hard. Is occasional thoda okay or completely avoid? anyone?
Listen, I know how tempting a cold drink can feel when you are bloated, but soda is really not good for the baby. If you're feeling nauseous or have gas, try taking ginger-mint water or jeera water instead. Just take care of yourself, a few months of avoiding this is totally worth it.
During my pregnancy, I used to get major gas and bloating, and soda actually made it worse after a temporary relief. Now that I am breastfeeding, I realize how much what we drink affects our body. I'd suggest sticking to fresh coconut water or home-made buttermilk instead, it is so much healthier.
When I was carrying twins, my stomach was already a giant gas balloon, so adding soda would have literally made me explode, haha! Seriously though, the caffeine and sugar spike isn't worth it. Keep it to a rare sip if you absolutely must, otherwise stick to simple water.
OMG, I get such crazy cravings for cold, bubbly Coca-Cola with my meals! Honestly, I do take a few sips of my husband's soda sometimes just to satisfy my soul, haha. But I try to control myself and drink fruit mocktails instead so I don't feel too guilty.
Honestly, having a few sips once in a while is fine, but soda has zero nutritional value and high sugar content. It's always best to check with your doctor first because excessive caffeine or artificial sweeteners in some sodas aren't great during pregnancy. If you have gas, try fresh lime water instead.
I felt so guilty when I drank half a glass of soda once because I was craving it so badly during my first trimester. Later I felt so worried about the caffeine and sugar affecting my baby, even though my husband told me it's fine. If you can, try to skip it so you don't end up stressing like I did.
Actually, my doctor explained that soda contains caffeine, high sugar, and sometimes artificial sweeteners like aspartame, which we should limit. Also, the carbonation can increase acidity and heartburn, which are already common in pregnancy. A small glass occasionally is okay, but try not to make it a habit.
I had thyroid during my pregnancy, so my doctor was very strict about my diet and told me to completely avoid aerated drinks. It's really best to ask your doctor in your regular checkup if you can have it. Till then, maybe stick to simple warm water or fresh juices for safety.
When I was at my parents' house, my mom never let me have bottled sodas because of the artificial gas and preservatives. She used to make fresh nimbu paani with black salt instead, which was so much better for my digestion. Try that, it is much safer and feels very refreshing.
