I can only speak for myself, but I had instant soups quite a few times during my first trimester when nothing else would stay down. My pregnancy went smoothly and baby is healthy.
I read the ingredient list like three times and worried about the sodium content for days after having it. But honestly, a cup once in a while won't hurt, just try to stick to fresh food as much as possible.
With twins, I barely had energy to breathe, let alone cook, so Knorr soup was my savior! Just add some fresh chopped veggies to make yourself feel less guilty, haha.
It is okay to satisfy your craving once in a while, dear, but try not to have it regularly. Fresh homemade tomato or veg soup is much better and safer for the baby.
I actually drink it sometimes when my nausea acts up because the salty taste really helps. Do you have a favorite flavor, or does only tomato soup suit your stomach right now?
They do have high sodium and MSG, so having them daily isn't great. An occasional cup is totally fine, just make sure to drink plenty of water to balance out the salt.
Honestly, when you are exhausted, whatever is easiest to cook is the best food. I practically survived on packaged soups and noodles, and my little one is perfectly fine!
I actually asked my gynac about this, and she said instant soups are fine once in a while but advised against daily consumption due to high preservatives. She suggested adding fresh coriander or carrots if I do make it.
I am in my 2nd trimester and had a pack of tomato soup yesterday, but now I'm feeling so anxious about the preservatives. Has anyone else had instant soups occasionally without any issues?
I avoided buying packaged soups because making fresh soup at home is much cheaper and healthier. With all the scanning and delivery costs ahead, saving money on these small things really adds up.
