I love to stitch and design clothes as a hobby, but now that I'm pregnant, I'm not sure if it's safe to continue. Can I still stitch clothes during pregnancy, or should I take a break?
My MIL told me not to use scissors or sew during eclipse times, which is a common belief. Other than that, she was happy to let me stitch baby clothes! Just don't strain your back.
There is no medical reason to avoid stitching, it is just old myths. Just make sure your posture is correct so you don't get back pain. Take breaks and keep your feet elevated.
Sitting on the floor for stitching can be very uncomfortable later on. Use a proper table and chair, and keep a cushion behind your back. It's a great hobby to pass time at home!
I also did some light sewing during my pregnancy to keep myself busy. Just be careful not to bend too much or press a heavy machine pedal with your feet if it feels straining. Listen to your body always.
It's fine to stitch but make sure you get up and stretch. I used to do gentle stretching and short walks every hour after sitting. Your circulation needs to stay active, so don't remain sitting for long.
