I made baingan ka bharta last night and then my neighbour aunty said brinjal should be avoided when pregnant. Now im confused coz its kind of a regular sabzi at home. Is there really something to worry about?
It's safe in normal cooked portions. The whole avoid brinjal thing is more an old wives tale. Only people with specific allergies should be careful. Otherwise eat it as part of a mixed diet.
We make brinjal so often at home, ennai kathirikai and all, I had it during my pregnancy too. No problem in normal quantity. If you ever feel any reaction then just tell your doctor.
Beta in some old beliefs people avoid baingan during pregnancy but there's no real harm in normal cooked quantities. I made it for my daughter and she was fine. Just well cooked, not raw.
Yes brinjal is fine, it's just a normal vegetable. I ate baingan bharta and all through pregnancy, no issue. Just cook it well and dont eat huge amounts daily, balance with other veggies.
