Can i take calcium tablet with milk during pregnancy?
My gynac gave me calcium tablets and I usually just gulp them with my evening milk coz its easier. But someone said milk and calcium together is not good? Now im confused, how do u all take it?
Honestly, I used to do this in the beginning, but my gynac told me to take calcium with plain water instead. Taking it with milk doesn't help much with absorption since milk is already rich in calcium. Just keep it simple and take it after food with water.
Listen, just take your calcium tablet with water after lunch or dinner. Don't mix it with milk, and definitely don't take it near your iron tablet. Keep a clean gap of 4 hours between iron and calcium.
In my house, my MIL used to give me a big glass of milk with every tablet! But my doctor told me that calcium is absorbed best with water, and not to take it with tea, coffee or milk. So I started having my milk in the morning and my calcium tablet with water after lunch.
I totally get why you are asking this, we overthink every single pill and glass of milk! There is no harm, but actually it is better to take calcium tablets with water. The most important thing is to make sure you don't take your calcium and iron tablets together, keep a gap of at least 3-4 hours.
From what my husband's clinic team always says, taking calcium with water is the best way for your body to absorb it. Milk itself has a lot of calcium, and too much calcium at once can actually limit absorption. Just stick to plain water after food.
