Can i take dental xray during second trimester of pregnancy?
My tooth has been paining badly and dentist wants to take an xray before any treatment. Im in my 5th month now. honestly scared about the radiation part, is it safe for baby? anyone done it?
I had a terrible toothache in my second trimester and was so scared of x-rays! But dental pain is no joke when you already can't sleep. The dentist put a heavy lead apron on my tummy and did it in a second, baby is totally fine and healthy!
I am also in my 2nd trimester and currently dealing with gum bleeding and pain. Did your dentist suggest an x-ray? I am so anxious about radiation, please let me know if anyone else got it done safely.
Actually my gynac told me that second trimester is the safest time for any necessary dental work. Did they give you a special protective shield for your abdomen during the x-ray? Let me know, I might need one soon too.
If you have severe morning sickness, getting dental work done can be very challenging. I had a lot of gagging issues. If the x-ray is urgent, make sure they shield your belly properly, but if it can wait till postpartum, that is easier.
In our family, elders usually advise against any scans or x-rays unless absolutely necessary. However, my doctor explained that if there is a severe dental infection, a dental x-ray with a proper lead shield apron is completely safe. Always trust what your dentist and gynac decide together.
