I've had a bit of an upset stomach and was thinking of taking Imodium for it. Is it safe to take Imodium while I'm pregnant, or should I avoid it completely?
Please do not take Imodium or any diarrhea medicine without checking with your gynac first. Self-medication during pregnancy can be very risky for the baby.
Make sure you stay hydrated with plenty of water and ORS. But definitely call your doctor before taking Imodium, as some medicines are not safe during pregnancy.
You can try having banana or ginger tea for mild stomach upset, but please consult your doctor instead of taking Imodium. Self-medication should be avoided right now.
For loose motions, my mother-in-law always gave me curd rice and pomegranate juice, which really helped. But if you feel you need medicine like Imodium, please ask your doctor first.
Don't take Imodium on your own. If you have severe diarrhea, it's a symptom you shouldn't ignore—call your gynac immediately and take only what they prescribe.
