There's a family function back home and i really want to go but im only into my 2nd month. Its like a 6 hour journey and im thoda nervous about travelling this early. Did anyone here travel in the starting months without issue?
I was super anxious about this in my first trimester too! My gynac said it generally depends on your personal health and how the pregnancy is progressing. Some say the first trimester is a bit risky because of implantation. Did anyone else get very specific advice from their doctor about this?
Look, travelling in the first trimester is generally discouraged because that's when the risk of miscarriage is highest, and morning sickness can be at its peak. While it might be medically fine for some, practically, you'll feel terrible. If you absolutely *have* to, get a doctor's note, check if you have any complications, and keep it very short. Otherwise, postpone it.
I delivered recently, and my doctor strictly told me to avoid travel in the first trimester unless it was an absolute emergency. She said it's a very delicate period, and even small things can cause issues. I had a lot of nausea and fatigue too, so honestly, I wouldn't have enjoyed travelling anyway. Better to be safe and rest up.
Generally, it's advised to avoid non-essential travel in the first trimester, especially long journeys. This is because the first few weeks are crucial for baby's development, and the risk of complications is slightly higher. Also, you might be feeling quite sick or tired. If travel is unavoidable, consult your doctor for sure and maybe stick to shorter, comfortable journeys. Train travel can be better than bumpy roads sometimes.
Travel in the first 2 months? Honestly, I was too busy throwing up and sleeping to even *think* about travel! Kidding aside, most doctors advise against it if possible due to the higher risk and general discomfort. If you really need to, talk to your gynac and get a fit-to-travel certificate. But be prepared for lots of nausea and exhaustion, ugh.
