i love my morning walks and usually do around 3 to 6 km. just found out im pregnant, barely a month in, and now my family is saying take it easy. i feel totally fine walking though. is it okay to continue this much in the start?
Depends on your situation honestly. I had early spotting so my doctor told me to keep walks light in the first weeks. If your pregnancy is normal it should be fine, but please confirm the distance with your gynac before continuing.
Generally moderate walking is encouraged and 3-6 km is reasonable if you feel good and have no risk factors. The first trimester just needs a bit of care, so check with your obgyn once and then carry on as comfortable.
If you were already used to walking that much before, your doctor will likely say continue at a comfortable pace. I walked daily but listened to my body and didnt push for speed. Just get a quick okay from your gynac first, especially in the first month.
Walking is one of the safest exercises in pregnancy, I walked a lot in both. 3-6 km is fine for most if you are already fit and have no complications. Just dont overexert, keep water with you and stop if you feel dizzy or cramps.
