Can inhalong little bit of paint affect pregnancy?
Our neighbours are getting their flat painted and the smell is coming into our house whole day. Im in second trimester and that strong smell is making me uneasy. Should I be worried about the baby?
I panicked over the exact same thing when our flat was being painted. A short small whiff of normal paint is very unlikely to cause harm, the worry is long heavy exposure. I just kept windows open and stayed in another room, and my gynac said dont stress over one small exposure.
Small accidental exposure usually isn't dangerous, but i'd still avoid being around fresh paint as much as you can. If you've had heavy or repeated exposure, or feel unwell, do check with your gynac to be safe. Better cautious than carrying worry.
A little bit briefly is generally not a big deal, but dont sit in a freshly painted closed room for hours. Keep ventilation on, step out, let others do the painting. If you ever feel dizzy or headachy from fumes, move to fresh air and mention it to your doctor.
Dont panic beta, one little smell is not going to harm the baby. Just stay away from the painting area, keep air flowing and let someone else handle it. If you feel any headache or breathlessness then tell your doctor.
