My iron is low and periods are also irregular, so I am wondering if it affects getting pregnant. I feel tired most days and now we are planning baby. Did anyone improve iron before trying?
Iron deficiency doesnt stop you from getting pregnant, but having low iron during pregnancy is common and they treat it with supplements. Both my pregnancies I was a bit anemic and took iron tablets the doc gave. Get ur hemoglobin checked, that's the main thing.
My doctor said anemia doesnt really cause infertility on its own, but very low iron can affect overall health and energy. In pregnancy though they watch iron closely because the baby needs it. She put me on iron and asked me to eat dates, spinach, jaggery. Get tested to know your level.
Low iron isnt usually a cause of trouble conceiving, but it's worth fixing for your own health. During pregnancy it definitely needs managing. Best to do a blood test and let ur doctor decide on supplements.
A simple hemoglobin test is cheap, get it done before assuming anything. Iron tablets and iron rich food are inexpensive too if you're low. Better to fix it early than face problems later.
