Can iron pills taken during pregnancy darken my babys complexion?
My MIL told me to stop taking the iron tablets coz they will make the baby dark. I dont really believe it but now its stuck in my head. Is there any truth to this or is it just a myth?
Beta I have heard this old talk too in the family but it is not true. Skin colour comes from family genes, not from tablets. Dont skip your iron over these stories, your body really needs it now.
No no, this is just a myth. Iron pills do nothing to baby's complexion, thats decided by genes. I took iron both pregnancies and my kids are fair and dark in the family mix as always. Please take your iron, it keeps you and baby healthy.
My gynac actually laughed gently when I asked this. She said complexion is purely genetic and iron only helps your blood and prevents anaemia. Skipping iron is what causes real problems, like weakness and low haemoglobin, so please continue them.
This is a common myth here and there is no truth in it. Baby's skin tone is set by genetics. Iron is important to avoid anaemia in pregnancy, so do follow your doctor's prescription without worry.
Arre no, totally false. Tablets cant change baby's colour, only genes do. Dont fall for these myths, just take your iron like the doctor said and stay strong.
