Someone gifted me kefir and said its good for gut but i wasnt sure if its safe right now. Im 5 months along. Did anyone have it during pregnancy? Just want to be careful before trying.
Honestly, in this 3rd trimester heat, anything cold sounds like heaven! Kefir is generally safe and great for gut health, just make sure it's pasteurized. Though checking with your gynac is always safer than trusting my tired brain right now!
Kefir is wonderful for digestion since it's fermented, almost like our homemade buttermilk but stronger. Just ensure the milk used was pasteurized to avoid any bad bacteria. If you feel any stomach pain or vomiting after trying it, stop immediately and call your doc.
Since our bodies go through so much, we have to be extremely careful with what we consume. Pasteurized kefir is actually great for gut flora, which helps with pregnancy constipation. Just take it in small quantities first to see how your body reacts, and wishing you a very smooth journey ahead.
I drank a lot of probiotic drinks during my pregnancy, and they really helped with digestion, which made my post C-section recovery much easier on the stomach. Just double-check that the kefir is pasteurized to be safe. It really helps keep the gut happy when you can't move much post-surgery.
I've been wanting to try kefir too for my bloating! Did your doctor say it's fine to have daily? I'm currently sticking to simple dahi but would love to switch if it's safe.
