Can lamotrigine cause a false positive pregnancy test?
Im on lamotrigine and got a faint positive, now im confused if its real or because of the medicine. Dont want to get my hopes up unnecessarily. Has anyone here been on this and had a false positive?
Since I had thyroid issues, I learned that tracking everything with my doctor is super important. Ask your doctor to do a regular follow-up and blood test. They will tell you if the medication is interfering or if you are indeed pregnant.
Oh sweetie, I totally understand how stressful it is when you're confused about pregnancy tests and medications. From what I know, it doesn't usually affect it, but please get a blood test done to know for sure. I am sending you so many warm hugs, stay strong.
Getting multiple home tests can get expensive. Instead of worrying, just book a simple blood test from a local lab, it costs very little and gives 100% accurate results. Save your energy and money for the regular gynac appointments ahead.
Haan yaar, urine tests usually don't give false positives for such meds, na. It's actually checking the pregnancy hormone only. Go to your regular clinic and get a proper blood test done to be absolutely sure.
I'm pretty sure it doesn't cause a false positive! 😃 Pregnancy tests are very specific about the hormone they track. Why don't you get a quick beta hCG blood test done? Wishing you all the best and lots of happy news! 🎉
Keep your mind positive and trust the Almighty, dear. Take care of your mental peace first. It is always better to get a proper checkup done to clear all doubts, pray and keep moving forward.
Please do not assume anything when it comes to medications and pregnancy tests. Your first step should always be to consult your gynac. They will guide you safely on what is actually happening and if your meds need adjustment.
I am in my second trimester now and I actually take medications too. I don't think it causes false positives, but did anyone else here get a positive test while on lamotrigine? I was so anxious during my early days too, hoping for some clarity for you!
Honestly, my brain is too tired in this 3rd trimester to remember complex drug names! But as far as I know, pregnancy tests only check for the hCG hormone. If it's showing positive, you might actually be pregnant, so go and get it confirmed from your doc rather than scratching your head over it!
