Was told i might need a laparoscopy for something unrelated but now im 11 weeks pregnant. Getting anxious about whether its even safe to do any surgery right now. Has anyone gone through this while pregnant?
It's done in some cases when there's no other option, often mid pregnancy is preferred. I'd say note down all ur questions and ask the doctor directly, they'll explain the why and the safety for u and baby.
Yes it can be done if its really needed, like for appendix or some gallbladder issues, usually they prefer the second trimester as the safer window. But its always the surgeon and gynac who decide together. Not something done casually in pregnancy.
From what I know, yes, surgeons do perform laparoscopy during pregnancy when its necessary and not avoidable. The timing and need is decided medically. Best to get a clear opinion from ur own doctors for ur specific situation.
It is possible in certain emergencies, but this is fully a doctor's call. Pls dont take this lightly, talk in detail with ur gynac and the surgeon. Every case is different and they weigh the risk properly before deciding.
