Can mothers bacterial eye infection affect pregnancy?
Ive developed a bad eye infection, doc said its bacterial and gave drops. Now im worrying like crazy if this can reach the baby in any way or affect my pregnancy. Im 4 months. Has anyone dealt with an infection like this while pregnant?
Mostly an eye infection itself wont reach the baby, dont panic. Just dont use random drops, get a doctor to prescribe something safe for pregnancy. I had conjunctivitis once while pregnant and it was fine with proper treatment.
I know how every little infection feels scary when pregnant, I was the same. But an eye infection on its own is very unlikely to harm baby. Just dont self medicate, let the doctor pick safe drops and you will be okay.
A simple bacterial eye infection like conjunctivitis usually stays local and doesnt affect the baby. The main thing is which eye drops or medicine you use, some need to be pregnancy safe. So see a doctor and mention you are pregnant before taking anything.
Generally a localized eye infection doesnt impact the pregnancy. The bigger concern is treating it correctly with safe medication. A quick visit to the doctor, telling them you are pregnant, sorts it out safely.
Please get it checked properly rather than guessing. A common eye infection is usually harmless to pregnancy, but the doctor needs to confirm its bacterial and give pregnancy safe treatment. Always mention you are expecting.
