My flat is on second floor with no lift so i go up and down many times a day. Just found out im pregnant, maybe 6 weeks, and my MIL keeps saying dheere chal, stairs avoid karo. Is it actually a problem in early days or is she just over worrying? Curious what others did.
Unless your doctor has specifically put you on bed rest or there is some early complication, climbing stairs normally is usually fine. Just dont carry heavy stuff while doing it. But honestly, always better to ask your gynac during your first scan just to be absolutely sure.
Before my C-section, during early pregnancy, I used to climb stairs at my office slowly. It was fine, just dont lift heavy bags. Just check if your doctor is okay with it based on your health.
I totally understand how we doubt every single step we take in these early days. I was also so scared to climb stairs! Just listen to your doctor and go very, very gently, your little baby is safe.
Personally, I avoided it completely in my first trimester because my doctor suggested to be extra careful. Every pregnancy is different, so please check with your gynac before doing any physical strain.
Stairs are generally safe if you take them slow and steady, it is actually good mild exercise. Just make sure u hold the railing properly and dont rush. Of course, if you have any pain or spotting, stop immediately and consult your doctor.
I used to climb stairs daily till my 9th month and had a smooth normal delivery! Just walk slowly, dont rush like before, and listen to your body. If u feel tired, just take a break.
Ghar pe my mother and dadi were very strict about this and told me to avoid stairs in the first three months. If you have to climb, do it very slowly, putting one foot at a time. Take care of yourself dear.
