Can one stop taking thyroid tablets after pregnancy?
I started thyroid medicine during pregnancy and baby is here now. Wondering if i can just stop it ya it has to continue. Will ask my doc also but wanted to hear from other moms who were on it.
My mother-in-law also said my thyroid would go away after baby, but the doctor explained that thyroid levels need to be monitored. Please get a TSH blood test done and let your doctor decide if the dose needs to be stopped or changed.
Keep your mind positive and pray, but please do not stop your thyroid tablets on your own. God has given us doctors to guide us, so please consult your gynecologist or endocrinologist before making any changes to your medication.
Beti, thyroid is a delicate matter and home remedies cannot cure it. Do not stop your tablets without asking your doctor, as it can affect your health and your baby's breastfeeding.
I'm planning my pregnancy and my doctor said thyroid control is super important. Did your doctor tell you that you might need to continue them, or did they ask you to get tested again after delivery?
Our doctor at the hospital was very strict about thyroid levels. You should absolutely not stop your medication without a proper blood test and your doctor's official clearance, as thyroid levels fluctuate a lot after delivery.
