I've heard mixed opinions about eating pineapple during pregnancy. Can pineapple be eaten during pregnancy, or should I avoid it? I want to make sure I'm not eating anything risky.
Look, unless you are eating ten whole pineapples a day, a small slice won't do anything. But if your elders are stressing you out over it, just skip it and eat an apple instead. No point arguing.
In our family, elders strictly tell us to avoid pineapple as they believe it is 'hot' for the body. However, my doctor said a slice or two occasionally won't harm. I still avoided it just for peace of mind, but always ask your gynac.
I have heard from my mother that we should avoid pineapple because it might cause heat. Since we are trying to conceive, I am staying away from it just to be safe.
I actually ate a few slices of ripe pineapple in my late pregnancy and had a very smooth normal delivery. Just don't eat raw or unripe pineapple, and keep the portion small.
