I used to do pranayam daily before but stopped after i conceived, dar laga. Now im in 2nd trimester and feeling restless without it. Which breathing ones are safe na? did anyone continue theirs?
Scientifically, deep breathing improves oxygen flow to the baby. But my doctor explicitly told me to avoid any pranayam that involves abdominal pressure, like Kapalbhati or Bhastrika. Stick to basic, slow inhalation and exhalation.
Haan na, pranayam is very good for mental peace during these stressful months! Just do simple ones like Anulom Vilom slowly. Avoid Kapalbhati completely, ho na, as it puts pressure on the tummy.
I practiced gentle Anulom Vilom and Bhramari daily till my 9th month, and honestly, it helped me stay so calm during my labor. Just don't do any forceful breathing or hold your breath at all.
Since I had limited time before rushing to office, I did 10 minutes of Anulom Vilom in the morning. It really helps with stress and takes very little effort. Just do it sitting comfortably on a chair.
I got so scared when I saw someone online saying pranayam can cause issues! But then my yoga teacher explained that only fast breathing is bad, and slow breathing is actually super helpful. So don't worry, just stick to gentle ones.
The prenatal yoga instructor at our hospital showed us specific safe breathing exercises. They told us to avoid holding our breath (kumbhaka) or doing fast exercises like Kapalbhati. Always ask your gynac's team before practicing.
I had severe bleeding in my second month, so my doctor strictly put me on bed rest and banned all yoga or pranayam. Even if it is breathing, please check with your doctor before doing anything, safety first.
