We are a seafood loving family and i really really miss prawns. Im 14 weeks. Heard mixed things about seafood in pregnancy so just want to know if cooked prawns are ok. Pls share what you all did.
Prawns themselves are okay cooked well, lean protein actually. Just watch how they are made, the deep fried masala prawns or creamy ones can be heavy. I kept mine simple and steamed mostly. Confirm portions with your doc if you have any condition.
Yes prawns are fine if they are fresh and fully cooked well. The rule is no raw or half cooked seafood. I ate them in moderation both pregnancies, cooked properly, no problem.
We eat a lot of prawns at home and i continued in pregnancy too, just made sure they were cooked through, not undercooked. Amma always said clean and cook fully. But do check with your doctor if you have any allergy history.
Cooked thoroughly, fresh and in moderation is the general advice for prawns. Avoid raw and limit high mercury big fish. If unsure about quantity just ask your gynac, mine gave me a simple yes.
Arre prawn lover here too! Good news, cooked prawns are allowed, just say no to raw stuff and those tempting fried-rare types. Keep the portion sensible and you are good. My biggest craving honestly.
