My period is late and i did a scan but they said something about a cyst, now im all confused. Could it actually be an early pregnancy that got mixed up? im going back for another check but my mind is racing till then.
In the first few weeks the scan isnt always clear, so yes there can be confusion. The doctor usually combines it with your hCG levels and a follow up scan. Trust the full picture, not just one scan.
Very early on, before the sac is clearly visible, it can sometimes look confusing on scan. My doctor said a blood hCG test plus a repeat scan after a week clears it up. So if they are unsure, they usually recheck, dont panic from one scan.
It can happen in early weeks that things arent clear yet. I had a similar confusion and my gynac repeated the scan and did a beta hCG to be sure. Please follow up properly rather than worrying from one report.
