My friend had one seizure-like episode in pregnancy and everyone is very scared. I dont know if pregnancy can trigger such things or if it is separate. Has anyone had epilepsy care during pregnancy?
From what my neuro told me, pregnancy doesnt cause epilepsy as such. Women who already have epilepsy may see changes in their seizures during pregnancy. New fits in pregnancy are taken very seriously and checked for other causes like high BP. So it really needs a doctor to evaluate, not a forum.
Don't panic if u just have a doubt. Pregnancy generally doesnt cause epilepsy. But seizures during pregnancy are an emergency and need urgent medical care, so if that's happening to someone, get them to a doctor right away.
Honestly this is a question for a doctor, not for us to guess. Epilepsy isnt typically caused by pregnancy itself. If there's any history of seizures or any fits happen, a gynac plus neurologist should manage it together. Pls dont rely on internet answers for something like this.
Pregnancy itself doesnt usually cause epilepsy out of nowhere. But if someone gets seizures or fits during pregnancy, that can be a serious condition like eclampsia related to high BP, and it needs immediate doctor attention. Pls if anyone has a seizure in pregnancy, rush to hospital.
