Im 9 weeks and instead of gaining ive actually lost couple kgs, mostly because i cant keep food down. My MIL keeps saying i should be putting on weight by now which makes me worry more. Is losing weight in the start normal? anyone else?
Some early loss from sickness is okay, but please dont try to lose weight on purpose during pregnancy. Even when I had to watch my sugar, my doctor planned my food so baby got enough. Any unexpected weight loss is worth flagging to your doctor.
Yes, in early pregnancy if nausea and vomiting are bad, some weight loss can happen, it did for me in the first trimester. As long as it was mild my doc wasnt worried and I gained later. But if you cant keep food or water down at all, tell your gynac.
It can in the early weeks from morning sickness and food aversions, totally normal up to a point. Usually you start gaining from second trimester. If the weight loss is a lot or fast though, get it checked, that needs attention.
A little early weight loss from sickness is common, but I would be careful. If you are losing a lot or feel weak, dizzy, cant eat, please dont ignore it, see your doctor. Severe vomiting sometimes needs treatment so you and baby stay nourished.
