Got a bit scared after reading something online about kidneys getting affected in pregnancy. My reports are all normal so far but the worry stays. Did this happen to anyone here?
Generally no lasting damage for a healthy woman, the body adjusts. The regular BP and urine tests are there to keep an eye on it. If you have any prior kidney condition, definitely discuss with your doctor.
My gynac explained the kidneys work harder during pregnancy but usually recover fine after. The urine albumin test at each visit is exactly to catch any problem early. If you have existing kidney issues they monitor more closely.
For most healthy women the kidneys handle pregnancy fine, but things like high BP or pre eclampsia can stress them, which is why doctors check urine and BP each visit. I had a BP issue and they watched my kidneys closely. Please dont skip your check ups.
