Can pregnancy stop severe endometriosis after laproscopy?
I have severe endometriosis and recently had a laproscopy. I'm hoping to get pregnant soon. Can pregnancy potentially help in stopping or reducing the severity of endometriosis symptoms after the surgery?
After years of suffering from severe endometriosis pain, I felt so relieved when I finally got pregnant after my lap. During my entire pregnancy, I had zero pain and it felt like a miracle. But my doctor did warn me that it's a temporary suppression, not a permanent cure.
I discussed this with my specialist at Cloudnine after my laparoscopy. She explained that pregnancy acts like a temporary pause button for endometriosis because of the progesterone surge, but it's not a permanent cure. Please ask your surgeon about the optimal window to try conceiving, as fertility is highest in the first year post-surgery.
Let's be direct: pregnancy does not cure endometriosis. It only suppresses it because you don't get periods, and the high progesterone helps. Since you've had a laparoscopy, your pelvic area is clean, so start trying to conceive immediately while your fertility is at its peak.
I am also planning to get a laparoscopy next month for my severe endo. I've read that getting pregnant right after surgery is the best way to keep the endo in check. Let me know if your doctor suggested trying naturally first or going straight for IVF!
Haha, my doctor told me that pregnancy would suppress my endometriosis, so I ended up with twins! It definitely stops the painful periods for a year or two, but once your normal cycle returns, the endo can slowly show up again. Enjoy the pain-free break while it lasts!
Realistically, you need to use the post-laparoscopy window quickly because the chances of conception are best within the first 6-12 months before any tissue starts growing back. Pregnancy will definitely give you relief from pain during those 9 months, but don't expect it to cure the condition permanently.
My heart goes out to you because I know how incredibly painful and difficult severe endometriosis is. Laparoscopy really clears out the path, and while pregnancy does temporarily calm down endo symptoms because of hormones, it isn't a permanent cure. I wish you all the strength and a very smooth journey ahead.
I also had stage 3 endo and got my laparoscopy done last year, and now I am 6 months pregnant! The pain has completely stopped for now which is amazing. Does anyone know if the pain comes back immediately after delivery or only after periods start again?
