Can progesterone suppositories give a false negative pregnancy test?
My doc started me on progesterone suppositories during my luteal phase and now im confused about testing. I tested at home and it was negative but im still not getting periods. Just wondering if the progesterone messes with the result somehow, anyone been through this?
I was on progesterone support during my IVF and got anxious about test timing too. My doctor told me progesterone doesnt cause a false negative, but testing too early can. Please go by the beta hcg blood test your clinic does, it gives the real picture.
My gynac explained that progesterone supports the pregnancy but doesnt create or hide hcg, so it wont cause a false negative on its own. Early testing is the usual reason for a negative. A blood test on the date they give is most accurate.
I was on similar support and stayed cautious about reading too much into kit results. Best to let your doctor confirm with bloodwork rather than worrying over a home test. They know how to time it right.
