Can raising straight up from bed be harmful in pregnancy?
Im in my 6th month and i keep forgetting and just sit up straight from the bed quickly. Then i read somewhere we should turn to the side first. Is getting up the wrong way really a problem at this stage?
Dont worry, its not going to hurt the baby. But for your own comfort and back, turn onto your side and use your arms to push up slowly. Specially in later months you will thank yourself for this habit.
Especially after my C-section I really felt how much that straight-up motion pulls. Even during pregnancy I would turn to my side first then get up slowly. It saved my back honestly. Be gentle with yourself getting up.
Not harmful as such but its better to roll to your side and then push up with your hands, especially as the bump grows. Sitting straight up strains the tummy muscles. I learnt this with my second, made mornings so much easier.
My gynac told me to avoid jerking straight up, not because its dangerous to the baby but it puts pressure on your abdominal muscles and can strain your back. She showed me the roll-to-side and push-up method. Try it, much gentler.
Oh I keep doing the same and then worry about it! Someone told me to turn sideways and get up slowly so I started doing that. Glad to know its more about back strain than baby. Anyone else used to jump straight up before?
