I used to do scissor leg exercises before pregnancy and want to continue some movement now in my second tri. Not sure if this particular one is safe for the pet area. Anyone checked with their doc about this?
According to my pregnancy fitness app, abdominal exercises like scissors can cause diastasis recti (belly separation). It is better to do pelvic tilts or modified squats instead. Check your pregnancy app for safe trimester-specific workouts!
I just delivered last month and my physiotherapist told me to avoid any leg-crossing or scissors exercises during pregnancy as it strains the pelvic floor. Stick to basic walks, it is much safer.
Having PCOS, I was extra careful with my body. I stayed away from hard core workouts like scissors because they put too much pressure on the lower belly. Please ask your doctor before trying any such exercise.
I had thyroid and my energy was always fluctuating, so my doctor told me to stick to gentle movements. Scissors exercise looks too intense and might strain your back. Do check with your gynac first.
Actually, lying flat on your back to do scissors exercise is not recommended after the first trimester because it puts pressure on the vena cava. My doctor explicitly told me to avoid heavy core exercises that strain the abdominal wall.
Honestly, please skip scissors exercise! I am very fitness-conscious but I only do prenatal yoga and daily brisk walking because my doctor allowed it. Lying on your back for core work is a big no-no during pregnancy.
Beta, don't do these modern heavy stomach exercises during pregnancy. If you want to stay active, just do mild walking in the park morning and evening. Drink plenty of water and don't exert your body.
