Can sertraline cause false positive pregnancy test?
Iam on sertraline since few months for anxiety and just took a home test, it came positive but im confused. Can the medicine mess with the result ya is it actually real? Thoda tension ho raha hai, anyone here taken this and tested?
Actually, pregnancy tests look for a hormone called hCG, and sertraline doesn't have that, so it shouldn't cause a false positive. When I was staying at mummy's house during my pregnancy, she always told me not to worry about random things online. If your test is positive, there's a huge chance you are actually expecting! Take care dear, eat well and rest.
Mere saath bhi similar confusion hua tha! My MIL told me that tests are usually accurate, and she was right—antidepressants like sertraline don't change the test lines. We checked with our family doctor later just to be safe. It’s better to do a blood test at a lab to get clear peace of mind.
Same here, I was on some meds and kept overthinking the test results while dealing with terrible nausea. Honestly, sertraline won't mimic pregnancy hormones, so a positive test is likely real. Buy a different brand test and try testing again tomorrow morning with the first urine. If those nauseous feelings start, keep some ginger handy!
Honestly, sertraline doesn't affect these test results at all, but you shouldn't guess when it comes to medications. Please book an appointment and check with your gynac directly to confirm everything. She will tell you what's safe to continue and guide you properly. It's always best to be 100% sure with a doctor's advice.
Oh dear, I totally understand how stressful these doubts can be! But let me tell you, false positives are so rare, and sertraline won't cause one. Sending you so much love and a big hug. If it's positive, trust your body and take a deep breath, you're going to be a wonderful mother.
