Every time I sneeze i get this sharp pull on the sides of my lower belly. Im 20 weeks and it kind of scared me the first time. Is this just stretching or something to worry about?
My doctor told me sneezing suddenly tightens the abdomen and tugs the ligaments holding the uterus, so a brief sharp pain is expected and harmless. She said only worry if the pain stays long, comes with bleeding or fever.
Haan that quick stabbing pain on the sides when you sneeze is round ligament pain, very common as the uterus grows. Bend slightly toward the sneeze or support your belly with your hands, helps a lot.
I used to panic over this constantly! But it passed in seconds each time so i slowly relaxed. If yours also goes away quickly then its likely just that ligament thing. If it lingers though, ring your gynac to be safe.
Ammma told me to hold a pillow against my tummy when i felt a sneeze coming, and it really softened that pinch. But i still mentioned it to my doctor in checkup and she said its very normal, nothing to fear.
Omg yes, I felt this sharp pull near my lower tummy every time i sneezed in my second trimester. I got scared first but turned out it was just the round ligaments stretching. Totally normal they said.
