Can supta baddha konasana be done during pregnancy?
Im in my second trimester and trying to keep up with some gentle yoga at home. I really like this reclined butterfly pose for relaxing but not sure if its safe now. did anyone do this during pregnancy?
Its one of the gentler poses, lot of women do it for relaxing the hips. Use bolsters under your back and knees, keep it comfy, dont force the stretch. If anything pulls, come out of it.
Oh i was wondering this too! I started doing it on a bolster and it really eased my lower back. Are you doing it on your own or with a class? I feel a teacher watching makes it safer.
I did supta baddha konasana with pillows propping my back up and it felt lovely for the hips. Just dont lie flat on your back for long in later months, prop yourself up. Do confirm with your prenatal yoga teacher or doc first.
My doctor said this pose is generally fine in pregnancy as long as i support the back with cushions and dont lie completely flat as the bump grows. Reclined poses on flat back can press a vein later on. Best under a trained prenatal instructor.
