Can taking metformin help to conceive easily with pcos?
I have pcos and we are trying since almost a year with no luck. My doctor mentioned metformin in my last visit and im wondering if it really helps with conceiving. Anyone here got pregnant with pcos on it?
Just wanted to say dont lose hope. In my journey metformin was one part of a bigger plan my doctor made, along with other things. It can support conceiving in PCOS but it is not the only answer, so try not to put all pressure on one tablet.
Along with whatever the doctor prescribes, for me staying active really helped my PCOS. My gynac said even daily walking and losing a little weight made the medicine work better. But check with her about what exercise suits you first.
It helped me before my second one actually. But dont just take it on your own na. Get your tests done first, then let the doctor decide. PCOS needs proper follow up, not just one medicine.
Take a breath, PCOS is very common and so many of us have conceived with the right help. Metformin can be part of it but let your doctor lead. You are doing the right thing by asking questions.
Honestly the answer is it depends. Some women conceive with metformin, some need extra help. Best to sit with a good gynac, do the basic hormone and sugar tests and follow what she says rather than reading too much online.
I have PCOS too so I get this fully. For me metformin did help to regularise my cycles after a few months, but honestly it was not magic on its own. Pls dont start it by yourself, my gynac decided the dose after seeing my reports. It works differently for everyone yaar.
When I asked my gynac about this, she said metformin mainly helps with insulin and that improves ovulation in some PCOS women. She also said it usually takes a few months and sometimes they add other support. So it can help but the doctor has to guide based on your sugar and weight reports.
