Can taking tylenol during pregnancy cause birth defects?
I took Tylenol once for fever before I realised I was pregnant. Now I am overthinking whether it can affect the baby. I will mention it to doctor, but has anyone had this worry?
I'd always check with the doctor before taking any tablet, even common ones, just for peace of mind and correct dosage. They generally consider it safer than many alternatives, but your situation is what matters. Please call your gynac before taking it regularly.
I took paracetamol both pregnancies when I had fever, on doctor's okay, and my kids are perfectly fine. Just dont pop it daily on your own. Always run it by your gynac, especially how much and how often.
Generally it's considered among the safer options for fever or pain in pregnancy when used as directed. But dont rely on internet, ask your gynac for the safe dose for you and dont overuse it.
My doctor said paracetamol (that's basically what tylenol is) is one of the safer pain/fever options in pregnancy when needed, in the right dose. She did say dont take it casually for everything though. Best to confirm dose and reason with your own doctor.
