Can the days of pregnancy be count from conception?
I'm trying to figure out my due date more accurately. Can the days of pregnancy be counted from the day of conception, or is it always from the last period?
My mother told me traditional ways of counting, but my doctor explained that scientifically they calculate from the LMP (last menstrual period) because pinpointing the exact day of ovulation is very hard. It is always safest to trust the doctor's due date based on your early scans.
For those of us who went through fertility treatments, we know the exact day of transfer or conception, which makes it feel different. Even then, the medical team adjusts the dates to align with the standard last menstrual period calculation. Just focus on your healthy progress and don't stress about the exact days.
Haha, if we counted from the exact conception day, half of us would be terrible at the math! Doctors use the first day of your last period because it's a fixed date we actually remember. It basically adds two free weeks to your pregnancy count!
