Can there be bumps on breast during early pregnancy?
I noticed some small bumps near the areola and got a little anxious. Im only about 6 weeks along. Is this a normal early pregnancy thing or should i be worried?
Yes! In early weeks I noticed those little bumps around the nipple area, the Montgomery glands. I felt a bit alarmed first but my doctor said totally normal as the body prepares. They settled into a regular thing after a while.
Those small bumps on the areola are common in early pregnancy, hormones are at work. Breasts also get tender and fuller. But if you feel a hard distinct lump that's separate, get that one checked by your doctor.
My doctor explained the little raised bumps around the nipple are called Montgomery tubercles and they're a normal pregnancy sign. They even help with breastfeeding later. Anything that feels like a hard fixed lump though, she said show it to be safe.
The small bumps you're seeing are usually those glands that prep for feeding, very normal. Mine stayed through the whole pregnancy and helped during nursing. Just keep an eye and mention any odd hard lump to your gynac.
