Its been a few months since my delivery and my tummy still feels different than before, kind of changed. Just curious if the uterus itself actually changes shape after having a baby or it goes back. would love to know.
My gynac explained the uterus goes through involution after birth, meaning it slowly returns toward its original size over about 6 weeks. It may stay a touch larger than before pregnancy but that is normal and not a problem.
After my c-section my doctor said the uterus slowly contracts back over weeks. I felt those after pains while it was shrinking. It does return close to normal, just give your body time to heal gently.
I totally felt strange about my body after delivery, everything felt different. But the uterus does go back mostly on its own over weeks. Be kind to yourself, your body did something amazing.
The uterus stretches a lot and then shrinks back after delivery, but it may not be exactly the same as before, slightly bigger is normal. After my second it took a few weeks to come down. Totally natural.
