Can we apply castor oil on stomach during pregnancy?
My mom keeps telling me to massage castor oil on pet for stretch marks. Im 24 weeks. But i read somewhere it might not be safe so now im confused. Did any of u apply it during pregnancy?
My doctor strictly advised me against using castor oil anywhere on the abdomen because it can be absorbed through the skin and might trigger early contractions. She suggested using sweet almond oil or virgin coconut oil instead. Please ask your gynac before applying it.
I read on my pregnancy tracker app that castor oil is a strong laxative and can sometimes induce labor, so applying it on the belly is generally not recommended. There are so many safe, modern stretch mark creams or natural body butters available. Better to track safe options on your app!
While castor oil is very thick and moisturizing, it is also known to stimulate uterine contractions in some cases. Personally, I would avoid applying it on the stomach and instead consult your doctor. Safer alternatives like coconut oil or cocoa butter are much better options for stretch marks.
Please be very careful with castor oil. I had a premature labor scare, and my doctor told me to stay away from anything that could stimulate the uterus, including castor oil. Please consult your doctor first before applying anything like this on your stomach.
Castor oil is so sticky, you'll end up gluing your clothes to your belly! But jokes apart, it is known to stimulate contractions, so it's a big no-no for stomach massages right now. Stick to normal coconut oil and save the castor oil for after delivery!
For my stretching skin, I stuck to pure coconut oil and bio-oil, which were very gentle and safe. Castor oil is extremely strong and might not be safe for the belly during pregnancy. Trust your instincts and ask your doctor what is best for your skin.
I just delivered a few months ago and during my pregnancy, I wanted to use castor oil for my itchy belly. My doctor told me a strict no and asked me to use simple olive oil or moisturizer instead. I would suggest you do the same and check with your doc!
