Family is putting thoda pressure for a boy and im stuck in the middle. We have our first appointment soon and im wondering if this is even something we can bring up with the doc. Just want to understand whats actually allowed.
Honestly, I would advise against asking your doctor for gender selection. In India, it's illegal and unethical for medical professionals to assist with choosing a baby's gender. The focus should always be on a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby, regardless of gender. Please discuss overall health and conception tips with your gynac.
Oh god, I totally get why you might be thinking about this, so many expectations come with pregnancy! But please try not to stress too much about the gender. Most doctors won't even entertain this kind of request because it's not allowed here. Just focus on a healthy conception journey and enjoy the process.
Beta, humare yahan toh kehte hain jo Bhagwan de wohi acha hota hai. You should just pray for a healthy child and focus on keeping yourself well. Doctors usually don't get involved in choosing gender, unka kaam toh aapki aur bacche ki health dekhna hai. Don't worry about these things too much.
Welcome dear! Generally, doctors won't help with gender selection for ethical and legal reasons here in India, it's actually against the law. The best approach is to focus on a healthy lifestyle for both partners to ensure a healthy pregnancy. A healthy baby is the biggest blessing, be it a boy or a girl.
My doctor actually explained this in detail during one of my appointments. She said that gender selection is strictly prohibited in India under the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act to prevent gender discrimination. So, asking your gynac about conceiving a boy specifically won't yield results, as they cannot legally or ethically assist with it.
