I live in a building with stairs and I'm pregnant. Is it safe to climb stairs daily during pregnancy, or should I try to minimize it as my pregnancy progresses? I want to avoid any unnecessary strain.
I totally understand why you are worried, we get scared of every single movement when carrying our little bundle of joy. If your doctor hasn't put you on bed rest, climbing slowly is perfectly fine. Just hold the railing and take care of your precious self.
Climbing stairs is actually good light exercise, but only if your gynac has given u the green light and there are no complications like low placenta. I used to do gentle walking and climb stairs slowly, but always held the railing and stopped if I felt tired.
Climbing stairs when you are already feeling nauseous and weak is the worst! I used to avoid it in my first trimester because the exhaustion made my morning sickness even worse. If u have to do it, carry a water bottle and take it very easy.
I lived on the second floor during my pregnancy and had to use stairs daily. Personally, I just took it very slow, one step at a time, and made sure someone was with me in the third trimester. I had no issues, but check how your own body feels.
I am in my 6th month and my apartment doesn't have a lift, so I have to climb stairs daily. I feel so out of breath sometimes! Does anyone else feel like their heart is racing after just one flight of stairs?
It is generally safe if your pregnancy is normal, dear. I climbed stairs till my delivery day, just make sure you don't carry heavy bags and take breaks if you feel winded. Your body is stronger than you think, just go slow.
