I was so impatient I tested 4 days before my period and got a faint line, then panicked it might be wrong. Honestly testing too early just made me anxious. Waiting till the missed date gives a much clearer answer, trust me.
Some sensitive kits can pick it up a few days before, but hcg may still be too low to show clearly. My doctor said a blood test can confirm earlier than urine kits. For surety she suggested waiting or doing the blood test.
